Kier Construction Limited is preparing to submit a planning application on behalf of the Department for Education for the redevelopment of The Magna Carta School.

The proposals form part of the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme scheme as existing buildings on site have been identified as in need of demolition and replacement due to their age and condition. No increase in the number of staff/students are proposed as part of the redevelopment therefore the school will continue to operate as an 8.5FE academy secondary school, providing 1,275 pupil places (ages 11-16).  

While works take place, new temporary accommodation will be provided towards the rear of the site on the location of the existing sports pitch, providing teaching space for pupils for the duration of construction. Once the new permanent building has been constructed, the temporary buildings will be removed and the playing pitch reinstated.
